“So is that a yes or a no so I can tell Andrew to gas up the Cessna.”

I must admit, I get real giddy every time the Secret Society the Play commercials air on Comcast VH1, E!, MTV, etc. You would think it was my first time seeing it! I'm just proud at how far we've come with it! Can you blame me?

ROUND TWO

As you know, Secret Society the play was a SUCCESS! So we're bringing it back to Philly for One Night Only this Mother's Day weekend and then we're taking it on tour!

And FYI... I've opened a lane for my fellow urban lit authors... Writers are now turning Producers adapting their novels for the stage

People have asked me how I feel about this and my response is:

Imitation is the highest form of flattery and ya girl is flattered! Good luck to all who follow in my footsteps! You've got some mighty big shoes to fill!

Hard Enough finding a Cast...Now I have to find Understudies?

Okay, so you know that Secret Society the Stage Play is my first production! So I'm a novice. I don't know everything there is to know yet! And I damn sure didn't know that once you pour all your blood, sweat, and tears into finding the perfect cast, you have to turn around and find the perfect back-up cast! Yes! They're called understudies and they must be just as good and just as ready as the main stars because God forbid something happens to a cast member--especially a key player! That would mean the production will not happen!  So in case, you have understudies who have practiced as much and as hard as the cast. And they are able to fill the role if something happens to the main member. It makes sense, yes, but it also makes me have a headache!

So now, we're on the prowl for understudies. I'll be damned!

We've Found Our Celess...But

Okay, Secret Society the Play opens in July. And rehearsals start next month. We've been holding auditions to cast the production since November '07 and still have not found someone to play the main character, Celess. Now for those of you who have read Secret Society you know that Celess is a one-of-a-kind. So we have to cast the right person or the play can go to hell! We've been searching high and low for the perfect gold-digger and lo and behold we found her!! She flew in from LA to audition today and she killed it!! Everything about her said Celess!! But...

Of course there's a but. Otherwise this wouldn't be a damn Blog! Isn't blogging for venting, gossiping, or beefin'? Yeah, right? Well, I'm not into gossiping and I don't have beef with anybody. I'm too busy trying to build an empire. So I'm venting!

After finally finding someone who could play Celess we came into a problem! Our perfect Celess lives on the opposite side of the country. Who wants to commute from LA to Philly three days a week for two months?

This means we're still on the prowl! We have one final audition coming up and let's hope we find what we are looking for. Please yall pray for us! There is no Secret Society without Celess!
